Total of 2140 常用漢字(じょうようかんじ), 863 人名用漢字(じんめいようかんじ), 1006 教育漢字(きょういくかんじ), and many more 漢字(かんじ) are available to browse!

教育漢字 consists of 80 Grade 1, 160 Grade 2, 200 Grade 3, 200 Grade 4, 185 Grade 5, and 181 Grade 6 漢字. The grade indicates year of primary school in Japan. The remaining 1130 常用漢字 are taught in secondary school (4 漢字 have double Unicode code points due to historical reasons, both are provided in this app). 3034 漢字 are registered in Remembering the Kanji by James Heisig, each has their own unique Heisig keyword.

On the other hand, JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test, 日本語能力試験(にほんごのうりょくしけん)) is a standardized test to evaluate and certify the Japanese language proficiency of non-native speakers. Before 2010, the JLPT has 4 levels, from JLPT 4 (beginner) up to JLPT 1 (advanced). It was reformed in 2010, and now in 2025 it has 5 levels, from N5 (beginner) up to N1 (advanced). There are 2211 漢字 required to pass the JLPT. Among them, 79 are for N5, 166 for N4, 367 for N3, 367 for N2, and 1232 for N1.
